The cornerstone of Temple Ahavat Shalom’s informal youth education are our Youth Group programs. Our youth groups are designed to provide social opportunities for our students, while also reinforcing the educational principles taught in the religious school. TAS has three youth groups: Senior TASTY (grades 9-12), Junior TASTY (grades 6-8), and Club 45 (grades 4-5).
Senior TASTY (Temple Ahavat Shalom Temple Youth) provides teens of TAS the opportunity to explore their Jewish identity, become involved with community service and socialize with other Jewish teens. Senior TASTY is led by a peer leadership board and is supervised by the TASTY advisors. Members of Senior TASTY also have the opportunity to attend regional youth group events through NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) connecting TASTY students with Jewish teens from across North America.
Junior TASTY and Club 45 are designed to encourage our younger students to interact socially with their peers. Each youth group provides monthly, age-appropriate events, combining social activities with Jewish services, social action and contemporary themes. The Religious School Board and Youth Advisory Committee are made up of parents and staff who are interested in offering guidance and suggestions to our advisors and teens. This adult committee meets monthly to support the youth programs, assist with fundraising and help establish, create and enforce policies and procedures.
