TASTY – TAS Temple Youth

Temple Ahavat Shalom prides itself on a robust informal education program that enhances our formal education.

Our youth groups are designed to provide social opportunities for our students while reinforcing the values and principles taught in our religious school.

TAS has a youth group for every age:  • Senior TASTY (grades 8-12)  • Junior TASTY (grades 6-7)  • Club 345 (grades 3-5)

Senior TASTY (Temple Ahavat Shalom Temple Youth) provides TAS teens the opportunity to explore their Jewish identity, become involved with community service, and socialize with other Jewish teens. Senior TASTY is led by a peer leadership board and is supervised by the TASTY advisor. Members of Senior TASTY also have the opportunity to attend regional youth group events through NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) connecting TASTY students with Jewish teens from across North America.

Junior TASTY and Club 345 are designed to encourage our younger students to interact socially with their peers. Each youth group provides age-appropriate events, combining social activities with Jewish values, social action, and contemporary themes.

Alumni Outreach

Thank you for your interest in the TAS Alumni Outreach Program.

This program is set up to keep in touch with our TAS Alums (aged between 18 and 24) as they embark on their new journeys. We keep in touch by sending them celebratory care packages throughout the year. Having children that benefited from this program, we recognize its importance.

We would appreciate the community’s help by remembering the TAS Alumni Program when making honorary and memorial contributions. All donations can be made directly thru this website via the donate page, select “Alumni Outreach Fund” from the drop down menu options.

Lastly, if you have an alum and want him or her to partake in this program, please click here and answer all the pertinent questions so they can be included in our distribution list.

Book Group

TAS Book Group selections consist of fiction and non-fiction written by Jewish authors or about Jewish subjects. Books are carefully chosen for their literary value and interest to men and women alike.

Meetings take place in the Library/Rothenberg Chapel on the second Thursday of the month from September through June. Refreshments are available at 7:00 p.m. and the discussion begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. While there is no membership requirement, we ask for a $5 donation from each person in attendance.

Kesher, in Hebrew, is Connections

In late 2016, the Synaplex Committee has transitioned its name to better fit the work it does to help connect those at TAS.

The word kesher means connection in Hebrew. The Kesher Committee works to provide opportunities for TAS members to meaningfully connect with one another and its clergy, and aims to encourage synergy between the Temple school and the Temple at large.  The Kesher Committee, furthermore, brainstorms experiential and innovative programs in order to inspire relationship and build community.

Together, the Kesher Committee hopes to create a lasting impact on the Temple’s culture, its participants, and its worship and educational programs. Thus, creating a more vibrant and relevant Temple environment.
